This article presents new evidence on the reintegration into the labour market of Québécois-Francophone veterans of the First World War. Exploiting the personnel files of recruits and information on wages and occupations from the 1911 and 1921 censuses, the authors study whether returning soldiers had better labour market outcomes than non-soldiers. They find that the war added to the social and human capital of veterans, the magnitudes depending on age, the length of service, the status of soldiers (volunteers or recruits), occupation, place of residence, and whether recruits served in Europe or remained in Canada.
